Police have issued a warning to Logan residents following a series of water meter thefts from local properties.
“Police are investigating a series of water meter thefts in the Redland and Logan regions,” a police statement said.
“The theft of water meters creates a significant inconvenience to those who are impacted, causing victims to go without water for hours at a time.”
The thefts are mostly occuring at residential unit complexes and commercial properties during the night.
“To discourage future theft of water meters in your neighbourhood, the Queensland Police Service, Redland City Council and Logan City Council are asking residents to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious behaviours to Policelink or Crime Stoppers,” the statement said.
“To protect yourself even further, if your home or business has CCTV installed or sensor lights, it is recommended that you try and aim these to focus on the location of your water meter.”
Policelink: 131 444
