Springwood resident Michelle Morrison, a mother of three teenagers, has found her Glenmore Court property to be her oasis.
“You come home from a stressful day of work in the CBD and relax in the backyard – you can’t ask for anything more,” she said.
Bordering the suburb’s 36ha conservation park, Ms Morrison’s home is perched high on the top of a hill – overlooking the rest of Logan City and the nearby hinterland.
“We back right onto the conservation park and it’s excellent,” she said.
“We often walk our dogs through the park in the mornings, right from our backdoor.
“We have wallabies come, we have kookaburras comes and all sorts of wildlife.”
Ms Morrison and her family have lived at the property for nearly a decade, but said it was time to move on.
She said it was a “good sized block” – enough room for children to run amok on, while requiring little upkeep.
“We resurfaced the pool, we did all new fencing, we repainted over the years, and pushed retaining walls back so you’ve got more space – we made better use of the land while we were there,” she said.
The 714sqm property features a five-bedroom, three-bathroom home spanning two floors.
Upstairs features “leafy views” from every room, including two bedrooms and a master suite, which has a private balcony overlooking the mountains.
Downstairs features two more bedrooms, multiple living and dining rooms, and a patio.
Ms Morrison said she would miss early mornings the most, looking out at the surrounding bushland and watching the evening sunsets.
“Sitting on the top balcony and watching the sun going down is just beautiful,” she said.
“We loved that house because of where it is situated – highly elevated with the bushland right behind you, so it’s a private and quiet area – and it has got the two living spaces, one for adults and the other for children.
“And we had the kid’s grandparents lived with us for quite a while.”
She said she was at the “tail end” of her child-rearing years, with all three of her kids now teenagers.
“As our children get older, we are looking for more opportunities,” she said.
“Kids these days like to live with you a little bit longer than what they did when we were younger, and so we’re just looking for something with even more space.”
She said her Springwood home was perfect for multi-generational families.
“It could be for someone with a young family upstairs and grandparent’s downstairs,” she said.
“We have excellent neighbours, and we couldn’t ask for anything better… everything is close to you.”
