More services for our community
The Mount Cotton Road Fire Station is officially open and it means the Miles Government has delivered another vital service for the Logan community.
Hundreds of local families gathered to celebrate, with an Open Day on the 15 June, underscoring the strong local support for enhanced safety services.
The new, 24/7 station will boost firefighter numbers as well as emergency and bushfire fighting response times across suburbs including Shailer Park, Daisy Hill, Cornubia, Loganholme and Carbrook, as well as in conservation areas including the Daisy Hill Conservation Park, Kimberley Forest Park, Venman National Park and Cornubia Forest Nature Refuge.
The station will also prepare our community for future growth in the region, ensuring locals are fully protected for everything from housefires, to factory and bushfires, as well as having access to the world’s best emergency rescue personnel for scenarios including swift water rescue and vehicle accidents.
More and more in Logan, we are no strangers to extreme weather conditions, so the addition of this station is a proactive measure to enhance our region’s resilience and readiness for potential natural disaster.
3,249 push-ups for mental health
Whether it’s days on end away at work, the pressures of school, or simply everything going on in the world right now, we all know that our mental health can sometimes really suffer.
That’s why I got involved in The Push Up Challenge – to work with our community to raise awareness, and funds that will go directly to Lifeline to deliver services locally.
The work Lifeline does in helping people through challenging times in their life is so critically important.
The goal of the Challenge is to complete 3,249 push-ups – one for each Australian who tragically died from suicide in 2022.
I want to thank everyone that has come out and done push-ups with me, from local students, local sport club members, gym goers, local tradespeople and colleagues.
Thanks to the outstanding community support I have received, together we have been able to raise over $8,000, so far.
On behalf of everyone who will be supported by Lifeline and the hundreds of thousands more across the broader event beneficiaries, thank you so much for joining me in this initiative.
It’s not too late to chip and help save a life! Go to the link to help me donate to Lifeline:

Bendtech Boosts Local Manufacturing
It became very clear to all of us during the Covid pandemic, that Australia had become too reliant on overseas manufacturing for the basics.
That’s why the Miles Government supports local manufacturing here in Queensland!
Bendtech is a Logan based family business that opened its doors in 1992, and from humble beginnings, it now employs over 50 locals and is the only stainless-steel tube miller of its kind in Australia.
Having successfully completed a project funded by the Made in Queensland program from the Miles Government, Bendtech is now using a state-of-the-art, 5-axis tube cutter for the manufacture of stainless-steel components.
But the onshore manufacturing doesn’t stop there, with this Made in Queensland project marking a transformative phase for Bendtech, enhancing its productivity and capacity, now working with Bustech to build local buses for our community.
This is a big deal for Logan! The team at Bendtech will be manufacturing stainless steel tubes for Queensland buses, with perfect timing as 50 cent fares approach and a big uplift for local services was funded in the recent State budget.
“The Made in Queensland grant from the Miles government has been essential for Bendtech to be able to expand in the way that we have.”
“These advanced capabilities mean our local team can deliver Queensland customers a local product, reducing reliance on imports and supporting local supply chains.” said Daisy Hill locals Jason Cerezo.
