The Logan East Community Neighbourhood Association (LECNA) is this Saturday (25 May) hosting a market day to celebrate its volunteers.
Visitors will have the opportunity to browse stalls selling books, CDs and DVDs, kids toys, brand new T-shirts, household items, Birck a Brack, hand-made cards, plants and preserves.
There will also be a raffle drawn on the day.
LECNA’s market day is organised by locals and a team of volunteers, and is supported by local businesses that “donate their time and resources which allows all profits to go back into the community”.
Senior volunteer Carol will be selling plants, with prices starting at $2.
“Carol’s Bargain Basement has received plenty of desert rose from Lesley,” Carol said.
“Better come early for the best bargains.”
Rochedale Springwood Lions will be cooking a barbeque on the day to help feed the hundreds of people expected to come.
LECNA said all profits from the barbeque would go back into the delivery of programs at the community centre.
“LECNA is a state government funded community centre which enables it to provide staffing and operational costs,” Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre manager Cassie said.
“We utilise funds raised from events like Market Day to deliver programs and activities organised by the community for the community.”
The market will be held at the Logan East neighbourhood centre, at 55 Cinderella Drive, Springwood, from 8am.
