Election woes ‘not out of the ordinary’

The Electoral Fee of Queensland states lengthy delays and ballot paper shortages at previous month’s Logan Metropolis Council elections were not out of the standard.
An ECQ spokesperson said ballot boxes which ran out of papers were “quickly replenished by our group of returning officers”.
“This is not an out of the regular occurrence, and electors who remained in individuals polling places acquired their ballot papers and were being ready to forged their votes,” they explained.
“We have received no experiences of electors staying turned absent from a polling booth if they arrived right before 6pm.
“At the Eagleby polling booth, the returning officer has suggested that any electors arriving after about 5.40pm were redirected to the nearby Cornubia polling booth.”
The ECQ spokesperson stated they envisioned queues in some sites on March 6.
“Queues on election day are not unheard of,” they reported.
“And though there had been lengthy queues in some places, in quite a few many others the hold out time for electors was quite shorter.”
Any issues to the result of elections would be read by the Court of Disputed Returns.
